HSD Announces Reentry/Rerooting Indigenous Community Healing RFP Funding Opportunity

The Youth and Family Empowerment (YFE) Division of the Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is seeking applications from organizations and coalitions interested in providing services to support Native/Indigenous people returning to their communities after incarceration. This funding opportunity was developed from the City of Seattle’s Reentry Workgroup led by the Seattle Office for Civil Rights (OCR). OCR’s vision is to liberate people in communities where systems of racism, oppression, and colonization historically held and/or continue to hold power and thrive. This request for proposal (RFP) process is a collaboration between OCR and HSD. This RFP is focused on reentry investments through Native/Indigenous-led community healing practices. Native/Indigenous-led healing practices may include cultural, spiritual, and/or ceremonial activities such as drumming circles, sweat lodges, canoe journey, woodcarving, and other practices that focus on healing, building connection and trust, and providing a sense of community.

HSD Releases 2020 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA)

HSD is pleased to issue its 2020 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) related to the following investments: 1) Older Adult Health Promotion 2) Re-entry/Re-rooting Indigenous Community Healing 3) Food Bank Services: Georgetown, South Park, Delridge Neighborhoods 4) Supporting Youth and Young Adults for Success This notice provides an overview of HSD’s impending funding opportunities for 2020 with a brief description of the service areas, anticipated funding amounts, release dates, and contract start dates. These funding opportunities represent over $4 million in investments in nonprofit services; once finalized, HSD will issue detailed funding opportunities for each investment. HSD Announces Results of the Seattle Sweetened Beverage Tax Public Awareness & Counter-Marketing Campaign Consultant Contract RFP

The Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is pleased to announce the results of the 2019 Seattle Sweetened Beverage Tax (SBT) Public Awareness & Counter-Marketing Campaign Consultant Contract Request for Proposal (RFP) that closed on October 2. The RFP sought consultants interested in developing a public awareness campaign about health impacts of consuming sugary drinks by supporting two strategies recommended by the SBT Community Advisory Board: a mass media counter-marketing campaign led by a community-based organization (CBO) and a youth-led counter-marketing campaign led by a CBO. The rating committees recommended fully funding The Vida Agency in the requested amount of $547,347.

The Seattle Sweetened Beverage Tax Public Awareness & Counter-Marketing Campaign RFP

The Youth and Family Empowerment (YFE) Division of the City of Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is seeking applications from consultants interested in developing a public awareness campaign about sugary drinks by supporting two strategies recommended by the Sweetened Beverage Tax Community Advisory Board: Up to $473,046 in 2019 and $236,523 in 2020 of contract funds are available through this RFP. Funding awards will be made for the period of October 15, 2019 to December 31, 2020, for an estimated 15-month contract, or until work is completed.

HSD Announces Results of the 2019 YFE Safety RFP

The Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is pleased to announce the results of the 2019 YFE Safety: Addressing Impacts of the Criminal Legal System Request for Proposals (RFP) that closed on June 13. Applicants were invited to provide systems navigation and address trauma for 18 to 24-year-old people harmed by the criminal legal system in Seattle. The RFP guides the investment of more than $4 million in HSD General Fund dollars for the January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 contract period.

HSD Announces Results of the 2019 Farm to Preschool and Out-of-School Time RFQ

The Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is pleased to announce the results of the 2019 Farm to Preschool and Out-of-School Time Request for Proposals (RFP) that closed on July 1. Applicants were invited to support food procurement, food equity, and connections between Washington State farmers and Seattle public preschools and before and after school programs serving low-income children and families in Seattle. The RFP guides the investment of more than $200,000, including funding from Seattle’s Sweetened Beverage Tax (SBT). HSD received a single application which was reviewed by a committee whose members recommended fully funding the proposal from Farmstand Local Foods, which has a strong background in implementing a food ordering and delivery program that provides affordable, nutritious, and wholesome produce from farm to preschool and OST programs.

HSD Announces Results of the 2019 Food and Nutrition Part I RFP

The Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is pleased to announce the results of the 2019 Food and Nutrition Part I Request for Proposals (RFP) that closed on April 11. Applicants were invited to provide food and support the system of food delivery to low-income individuals and families in Seattle who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, hunger. The RFP guides the investment of more than $4 million of funding in Seattle’s Emergency Food System through two strategies – Food Security & Access and Food System Support. HSD received 33 eligible applications from organizations that were invited to apply to one or both strategies.

HSD Announces 2019 Farm to Preschool and OST RFQ Funding Opportunity — Extended Deadline!

The Youth and Family Empowerment (YFE) Division of the City of Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is seeking applications from agencies interested in supporting food procurement, food equity, and connections between Washington State farmers and Seattle public preschools and before and after school programs serving low-income children and families in Seattle. This Farm to Preschool and Out-of-School Time (OST) RFQ is focused on building an equitable food system between farmers and preschool and before- and after-school programs. This RFQ will fund a lead agency that will support farmers (producers) to sell, and preschool and before- and after-school programs (consumers) to buy affordable, nutritious, culturally appropriate food and build long-term relationships. Approximately $233,612.00 is available through this RFQ. HSD intends to fund one (1) applicant. Initial awards will be made for the period of January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
